'Despicable Me' to be Shown at Sunset Theatre Thursday

Three screenings of the 2010 animated comedy "Despicable Me" will be shown Thursday at the Sunset Theatre in Asheboro.

The movie will be played at 10 a.m., 1 and 7 p.m. at the venue's location at 234 Sunset Avenue.

Admission is $3 for the first two shows and $5 for the 7 p.m. show, which includes a small popcorn and drink.

The movie is about a criminal mastermind who uses a trio of orphans as pawns for a grand scheme. It is rated PG for rude humor and mild action.

It is directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud and stars the voices of Steve Carell, Jason Segel and Russell Brand.

The event is one of several "Summer Movies for Kids" screenings hosted by the Sunset Theatre. "Tangled" will be shown Friday, July 7.
